Wondering how to install the mounting bracket on the JMP Marine Yanmar replacement engine cooling pump(s) #JPR-YM08IH & #JPR-YM08IH2?. Listed below are the simple quick and easy steps for properly attaching this bracket to the pump assembly. This bracket comes unattached and is found in the box with pump and the 2 Hex Bolts and Spring Washers exactly as seen in the product images of these pumps.
Simple steps for attaching mounting bracket:
Step 1:
Remove pump assembly, mounting bracket, hex bolts (x2) and spring washers (x2) from packaging.
Step 2:
Secure pulley from being able to rotate. Do not use more force than necessary when clamping pulley so as not to damage the pulley. A simple method is by placing the pulley in a vice making sure to protect it using a piece of wood on each side of pulley and vice and then slowly tighten the vice until pulley is secure enough to prevent movement.
Step 3:
Use the appropriate size wrench to back the nut off securing the pulley. Remove Nut and Spring Washer.
Step 4:
Remove the pump assembly from the Vice
Step 5:
You can now remove pulley from end of shaft; you might have to tap pulley evenly using a rubber mallet so it will slide off.
Step 6:
Connect the mounting bracket using the 2 hex bolts and spring washers and securely torque bolts to point of spring washer being completely flat under head of bolts.
Step 7:
Install pulley back onto shaft
Step 8:
Again secure pulley from rotating by using the Vice with the pieces of wood on either side to protect it.
Step 9:
Install spring washer and nut making sure nut is fully torqued and secure
Step 10:
Remove pump and bracket assembly from Vice. Pump is now ready to mount!
